What is a CMS?

A CMS or Content Management System is simply a website with two components, the first is the public website or “front end” the other is the management console or “back end”. One of the real benefits in using a CMS is that you have control over what information is displayed to the public.

What is Joomla!?

While many of our competitors spend time and effort developing and maintaining their own proprietary CMS, Web Design Experts has determined that this effort is better spent on assisting our customers to better leverage the web for their businesses. We have standardised on Joomla! which is an open source CMS which is very popular world-wide. We let CMS experts develop this great resource so we can focus on our customers.

What if I want extra pages?

The great thing about using a CMS is that all of the web pages are generated from a database, that means you can have a virtually unlimited number of pages in your website. We only specify the number of pages that we will create as part of our project in terms of providing a solid fixed quote. You will be shown how to add new pages or you can do as many of our customers do and ask us to do it for you, for a fee of course.

I might need to upgrade my website to eCommerce is that possible?

All of our CMS based websites can be upgraded to accomodate eCommerce, whether for thousands of products, or only one. Simply call us on 1300 884 553 for a quote.

Someone mentioned “Lock-In”; what is that?

Many website providers use proprietary site generators to develop their sites. Once this has been done you usually cannot move to another provider or change the hosting so you are effectively “locked in” to the company who set the site up. Web Design Experts use freely available and popular open source systems. We want our customers to be happy, not stuck.

I want a special website to do “X”, why can’t anyone quote me a price?

Here at Web Design Experts we have gone to great lengths to provide a standardised, yet flexible solution for our customers. Sometimes we get requests for projects that are outside these known parameters. If what you have asked for is indeed outside of the packages we provide then we may need to conduct a specification phase.
